The email notification chimed. It came from a college student in central Texas; she needed a unique 'thank you note' shipped right away, directly to the recipients.
Her email: "A couple just gave me an incredible spring break trip and I want to express my gratitude in a really special way. Can you get a particular tequila and engrave the bottle with my message on it? Here's the bottle I need and what I want you to engrave."
I responded quickly to her email, saying I could fill her need. I asked, "How do you know my work?" She told me about a friend whose bottles I had engraved for several special needs.
I gave her my pricing structure, including a fee for finding and getting the bottle. She understood and agreed by giving me her credit card number before I started the process.
I had to make a 14 mile round trip to buy it. Came back to my table. Engraved it. Colored it. Photographed it... with my iPhone 7+ ...and sent her this photo. Within minutes her email came....she was thrilled! My secretary processed her charge and the customer had an emailed receipt within seconds after the transaction.
From there, the bottle was securely packed and taken to FedEx for the trip to the lucky couple who will be getting the bottle just about now, as I write this.
My customer was overjoyed to have her request precisely filled within a couple of workdays. All she did was send an email, call me with her credit card, and pay for her special turnkey job request.
There are countless others across the world who need the same special attention. One of my students told me yesterday he had gotten an order from JAPAN for a similar process to this one.
The challenge is finding people who would love the service, and being able to fill their need. And THAT is one of the things we discuss for your own potential in our Beginner Engraving Workshops.
