BE A VERY RARE BIRD!
Only about 525 people in 20 years have come from as far away as Seoul, South Korea, Dubai, Argentina, Canada, Hawaii, and all over the continental U.S. to learn this amazing skill and how to create a great service in personalizing items for gifts and recognitions.
If all those 525 engraving students lived in the United States, each could NEVER meet the demand for personalized items that must be done by hand. Those who came, learned a method for doing what you see on these pages. Their earnings are more than they ever imagined. This Workshop prepares you to hit the ground running the day you get home.
WHEN DID WORKSHOP BEGIN?
The first Workshop was in 2001. We have conducted just over 100 Workshops in hotels, and one country inn in upstate New York. Each produced engravers who do the kind of work Ken does.
BIGGEST MIND-BLOCK MOST PEOPLE HAVE
Fear of failure has kept many, many more from attending. They have the mindset that one must be talented in art, have pretty handwriting, or be an experienced Calligrapher to learn this. Those people are convinced there is no way they could make their skill worthy of the time and investment to jump in. Too bad. Their loss.
WHAT'S THE 'SECRET SAUCE?'
What I teach in this Workshop is exactly how I self-taught and what took me over a year to accomplish, with a long history of doing and teaching Calligraphy. In this Workshop I share all my methods and techniques for making beautiful letters quickly and easily. It's hand position. It's learning a couple of dozen common squiggles...strokes of the letters...that are repeated time and time again to create every letter in the alphabet. It's developing muscle memory in your hand; muscle memory is what makes your handwriting the same every time you write with a pen or pencil. Muscle memory is what enables you to tie your shoelaces with no conscious thought of the process. It's guts and grit and the determination to succeed. I teach the blending of all those things together. The net result is gorgeous script on just about any surface, with a dental drill....that can produce amazing income.
NO NATURAL ART TALENT NEEDED
It does NOT require any special 'gift' of art talent, experience in Calligraphy, or pretty handwriting. Read that again! As long as you have no infirmities with nerves and hands, you CAN do this!
BARE BONES PAY IS $100. PER HOUR FOR MOST. OFTEN, MUCH MORE!
If you have a need, a desire, an urge to do something creative, by its very simplified nature, this is a unique opportunity. People earn an extra stream of income that can easily equal a rate of one hundred dollars...or more....per hour. Small jobs that take only 10 or 15 minutes can generate fifty to seventy-five dollars. That would equate to a rate of three-hundred bucks an hour....OFTEN much more!
DO IT ON THE KITCHEN TABLE
You can do it all at your kitchen table or any small area where you have an electrical outlet, a chair, good light, and a table surface. Take this all in and know that you can learn the technique. And you can earn handsome fees. Nobody in your circles of family, friends, neighbors, and business connections will be comparing your work to my work. Yours will look great to them and the more you do the better you'll be.
LEARN HOW TO PRICE THE WORK
We talk about marketing your new skill on a shoestring. You learn how to not be timid about pricing....and what to charge for a variety of items to get you started. People are eager to pay for personalization. Most people have no idea their unique gifts can even BE personalized!
TYPICAL BUSINESSES NEED INVENTORY, AN OFFICE, AND EMPLOYEES
Not so for hand-engraving! One other important consideration. Unlike a typical service business, you need NO inventory of products. Customers bring the items you engrave. Unlike a franchise that costs tens of thousands of dollars to buy into, there is no franchise fees, no royalties, no commissions, no building, no employees, and no assorted headaches that accompany such investments. Hand-engraving for the public generates income at a rate that will overshadow almost any legal endeavor to earn with a one-time investment. Workshop, equipment, and a few project items and you're set to learn.
YOU'LL NEED BUSINESS CARDS AND A SIMPLE WEB SITE TO BE FOUND
The two things that require modest additional expenditure: Burs and business cards. I spend about $300. annually for burs....'bits' for the drill. For business cards, I spend several hundred dollars about every 24 months, to get my small foldout card that is really more of a full color mini-brochure that every customer gets with the engraved item I do for them. Yours can be a simple two-sided or four-sided card and be quite effective. Send an email for a copy of my unique card. REQUEST A SMALL ENGRAVED KNIFE WITH THE NAME YOU WISH....I'll enclose that with the card. Include your snail mail address for the padded envelope.
